The Oregon Humane Society is building the nation's first Animal Medical and Learning Center that will house a veterinary teaching hospital and an animal training and education center.

The new OHS Center will:

  • Train a new generation of veterinarians through a pioneering alliance with the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine - the first collaboration of its type in the nation.
  • Save more lives by ensuring that all 13,000 animals who come to OHS each year receive top quality veterinary care when they need it.
  • Launch America's first "prep school" for animal assisted therapy animals. These pet partners bring unconditional love and medical benefits to hospital patients and nursing home residents.
  • Broaden educational opportunities for Portland's children through service learning programs that stress respect and compassion for all living things.
